This week marks the start of the Fashion + Design Festival Arnhem. A month long Dutch festival in the city of Arnhem that focusses local fashion and design. One of the things that always attracts me to the festival is that it helps me discover new fashion and also expands my knowledge fashion, design and art. By immersing myself into the festival I am able to push myself more outside my comfort zone.

Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the official opening of the festival, but to celebrate it in my own little way, I decided to bake ginger bread cookies, which I found on the Fashion + Design Festival Arnhem magazine (page 53). The recipe was taken from the newly released baking book called Saakje’s Zoete Bakboek, written by Saakje owner of baking company De Bakbar. While I prefer cakes over cookies, I gave the recipe a try and was amazed at the result. The cookies came out golden brown and tasted even better than supermarket cookies.
Nothing beats homemade cookies
