What Is Personal Color Analysis

We all have our favorite color and you would think that having beautiful wardrobe is as simple as just buying clothing in your favorite colors, right? Wrong! After I went to a personal color analysis consultant to get a color analysis. I have new appreciation for how important colors are to a wardrobe. A personal color analysis consultant sometimes also called a personal color advisor specializes in the complex effects of color and creates color palette that suits your needs, whether it is casual or business.

Important to note is that a personal color analysis consultant can be a stylist. However this is not always the case as doing a color analysis is the method of determining the colors (not style) of clothing and makeup that harmonize with a person's skin tone, eye color, and hair color. This in turn can be used as tool for wardrobe planning and style consulting.

Colourwise

For my personal color analysis I went to consultant Gaby at Colourwise. With more than 30 years of experience, she is very knowledgeable and experienced in conducting color analysis on men and women of different skin tones. Without giving too much details, after an almost 3 hour session, Gaby and I were able to determine the best suitable colors for me, which is called: " Cool Winter".

Seasonal Color Analysis

Cool Winter is the color palette name within a typology method called seasonal color analysis. This method divides everyone up into four typologies inspired by which of the 4 seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) colors looks the best on you. It was developed in the 80's, however in the later years the method was considered not very inclusive to all skin tone. So by the 2000's the method was refined to sub-divide each season into 3 sub- categories to become a 12 season method instead of the original 4.

Experience

I found it was amazing to see an expert in the color analysis field look at my skin tone, hair and eye color to analyze and determine the colors that suited me best. The part that I did not expect and what might detract people from going to get a color analysis is the misconception that a personal color analysis consultant will impose on you a color you might not like, which is not true. Based on my experience going to Colourwise, the session was collaboration between me and the consultant discussing and giving feedback to come to a mutual agreement.

In conclusion having my color analysis done by Colourwise is a great step towards me becoming my own stylist and building a strong capsule wardrobe. I would recommend to anyone who want to invest in acquiring knowledge on how to stop cluttering their wardrobe with bad purchases and in addition also learn how to shop smarter while saving money to look into doing a color analysis.
